Your learning and reading can be affected by having misaligned eyes. BVD may affect up to 50% of children diagnosed with reading and other learning problems. Binocular vision disorders can cause eye fatigue while reading, make it hard for you to concentrate, cause words to blend together, and make you lose your place or skip lines while you read. As a routine eye exam can miss even the smallest of alignments, a neuro visual evaluation can detect very small and subtle misalignments.
Head, Neck, and Shoulder Symptoms
Often, patients with BVD experience headaches where they feel an intense pressure at the crown of their head. If you have BVD as a result of Post Concussion Syndrome you will most likely encounter these frequent, intense headaches. Other symptoms of binocular vision dysfunction found in the head, shoulders, and neck include pain in the sinus area or jaw. Severe neck and shoulder pain are often due to a head tilt caused by the misalignment.
